The New Interim Guidance on Diagnosing Celiac Disease in Adults

Doctor hugo penny is a clinical research fellow in gastoenterology at sheffield teaching hospitals. He has written interim guidance on diagnosing celiac disease in adults. Traditionally, the diagnosis of celiac disease is based on two pieces of information. One is a blood test that detects the presence of seliac diseasespe antibodies. The other is an endoscope test that is a camera test into the top part of the small intestines - just below the stomach. And we take biopses from that to demonstrate inflammation typical of seliat disease.
