Predicting the Future With Expert Advice
On his PhD, I did a whole bunch of prediction models on financial data sets. And it looks like you get this kind of structure in there because there are certain regimes where this particular model actually predicts quite far out into the future. But though, all the features are basically just 20% in each of the bins. The binning is a pretty strong form of regularization. It definitely helps to use prior 10 years of data.
