Astrophysicists hope to use boat to ascertain why only some stars produce gamma ray bursts as they go supernova. Yvette Sendiz, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics says that's one of the big mysteries. Whether gamma ray bursts result in a black hole or a neutron star at the core of the collapsed star is also an open question. What is certain is that this is a cosmic incident that will not be eclipsed for many, many lifetimes.
