Calvinism and Theology

Calvinism spread like wildfire across europe, taking root in britain. He palemicized against scholastic and classical philosophers alike. Here we have a version of christianity that you can only believe by faith. Despite calvin's condemnation of rational speculation, his impact on the history of philosophy was enormous. Ironically enough, when modern day atheists casually assume that there is an antithesis between religion and philosophy, they are unwittingly echoing the ideas of john calvin.
