The Importance of Film in Cultural Society
Despite the gloomy picture I've painted just now, I do want to say that film still holds an important place in cultural society. And if you follow your passion and your taste, you do sometimes achieve breakout successes. Films like Little Miss Sunshine, which cost $8 million and made over $100 million in the box office or Slumdog Millionaire, which costs $15 million and grows 368 million worldwide. Rocky was made for a million and today that franchise is now worth $1.7 billion. Same thing with the sa-hara franchise. Even the original Star Wars is considered an indie film with a budget of $11 million. Today that franchise is worth $60-70 billion
