E-Pul: A Linux Specific API
E-Pul is an evented I-O system. Instead of blocking the thread and waiting for data to be received, E-Pul returns immediately. On OS X, there's KQ, which comes from the BSD, and Windows has primarily IOCP,. Linux is now getting a brand new async IO system called IOU ring.
