The Origins of Neptune

Neptune was only discovered in the 19th century. By then, Newton's laws of gravity were well understood and could predict its orbits around the sun. The orbit of Uranus veered slightly off the predicted path. Some speculated that Newton's law might not work at such great distances. But others decided there had to be something else out there which would make it all add up. Professor Lucy Green: " Neptune marks a point in our exploration of the solar system"
