The Benefits of Epithelial Tissues
Epithelial cells are very densely packed together, kind of like bricks in a wall. They're often pushed up right against each other and you have gap junctions between the different cell membranes which is sort of like a protein that joins the two together. The reason for those sort of tight junctions to keep them together is so that nothing or very little can pass between the cells. There are five main types of epithelial tissues: squamous, columnarified, pseudo-stratified, cuboidal and stratified.
