Flying Machines - What Are the Criteria?

When the f a i was founded in 19 o five, it was well known that experimenters had been testing flying machines for a number of years. The new body instituted two new cash prizes for any aviator who could complete a 25 meter flight and a 100 meter flight. For these flights to be considered legitimate, they have to meet seven criteria. These include being able to take off under its own power with a man on board - no balloons allowed.
