Dr. Sanjay Gupta: I've been volunteering coaching some high school athletes this year. And whenever any of them get any kind of injury, the advice given to them is typically taking anti-inflammatories 24 seven for at least a week or two weeks and rest. Gupta: Inflammation is not a bad thing. We want it to come in. That's what starts the healing. So we may be not doing the right thing by icing anti-inflammatory drugs and resting. They want to actually start some gentle motion, not actually throw a bunch of ice on it acutely just as you need it.
