I was never going to reach the house of lords. I meanthat, you know, i was, that was not my destiny. And when i am, when i stopped being a civil servant and i left number ten in 96,. It was quite possible at that point that i would have am never been heard or seen of again by the sort of people whom i had worked amongst over the previous five years. So for me to re enter the scene again some years later and be contemporaries of people who used to be way up here, and i was away down there, it's hard sometimes for them to understand how they got so far apart from each other.
