The Left's Strategy in the Elections of 1936
In 1936, the CEDA contested against a popular front of rigidly leftist parties. The election was called by the President Al-Khalazamora to prevent Jose Maria Gilroblis from becoming prime minister. It is not quite as dramatic here, because in the American structure the tools are lacking to actually deny power to a party that wins seats. Therefore, when conservatives threaten to gain any actual power, other actions are instead taken.
