The Church's Triumph in the Century of Constantine
In 325, the Catholic church was persecuting those Christians it decided were not proper Christians. It had achieved what it set out to do in a sense, but at the very point when Roman Empire was falling apart. The Aryan controversy rips it apart and North Africa is torn apart by Donatist tradition. But it's also a century in which the church is coming to terms with success and not doing that terribly well in certain ways.
