The Politics of the Police
As the working population becomes more organized, there is a kind of resurgeence of labor militancy in the 18 nineties and early 19 hundred. Mayors are not as sure now that they can count on the police to use force to suppress actions like strikes or riots. And it seems increasingly possible that these police might even side with striking workers because they have a lot in common with them.
