The Battle of Interest is actually called the Battle of Baltimore. The Brits wanted to take Fort McHenry, and the Americans wanted to protect it. Francis Scott Key knew that lowering the flag would mean British victory and American defeat. He relied on the red glare and the bombs bursting in air to see if our flag was still there.
