The Heuristic of Language
Aristotle wasn't trying to impose categories on objects, he's not doing that at all. This is a way we can think about things and how we can help define stuff so that we can actually talk about the same thing at the same time. And then we can maybe come up with an accurate syllogism if we know that what men are and what mortals are and who Socrates is. We could put a syllogism together. It's a heuristic. There's no way Aristotle was chopping everything up into 10 pieces and putting in these category buckets.
