The Challenges of Sociology in the Church

Sociologists and all social scientists must hold themselves to really high standards of evidence before they make kind of sweeping claims. I dropped my first sociology class in undergrad because the professor really was antagonistic. He looked like, if you Google Karl Marx right now, like that is the picture of the guy that I took that class from. And after a week, I said, this guy hates me. All he talks about is, this isn't social science,. This isn't something that I find helpful. So it requires us being discerning...and so for us to be able to do that, it requires church leaders to consume widely"
