Navel Gazing: How to Avoid It

Two on the nose can be a big problem with this. If you're spending a lot of time in what we call navel gazing, which I tend to do, I'm an egregious navel gazer. This is one of those places where you often can get away with three paragraphs where you had seven. They get across the same concept. Without knowing, without seeing the passage in question, I don't know what the fix is.
