Is There a Trap in Which Expertise Translates Into Other Areas?
There's a trap of thinking that somehow expertise in one area translates into other areas. It is sort of foolhardy to try to reinvent the wheel before you even know what the wheel is, or you have experience using said wheel. Andi would even expand that and add my closing thought, which is that it is often the case, and i see this now, that there are even areas within your own domain that you are not an expert. I mean, if you want instruction on how to play spider guard, i'm a black belt, and i couldn't really tell you, i never play spider guard. It's just not my thing.
