I was also intrigued that you chose to make it an epistolary novel. I think the last time I read such a novel was Bram Stoker's Dracula and your novel goes exactly to the opposite polarity. But it worked really, really well because it gave us such an incredible relationship with the main character. We know him. We're inside his head in the letters that he writes again and again and again. That is where we find their humanity, as you said.
