In late 1969, one of their key members named Ian McDonald, he was their keyboardist, woodwind player and primary songwriter. After staying on to record some vocals for King Crimson's second album, Wake decided he was going to leave King Crimson as well. So Greg Lake and Keith Emerson had met with the nice opening for King Crimson on the West Coast, and ultimately they decided they wanted to form a band together. Now the third, Karl Palmer, he used the drummer. Prior to joining Emerson like the Palmer, Karl Palmer had been the drummer for a band called Atomic Rooster. It has gone down in history as one of the most important and influential albums in the history of Prague
