How Much Do You Need to Train Muscle Groups?

If you're not training each major muscle group at least 2 to 3 or more times per week, you're not going to get very far. The relationship between intensity, volume, and frequency is fairly complicated. As volume and intensity go up in individual workouts, the frequency of those workouts must go down. There's a point of diminishing returns for weekly volume per muscle group.
