The New Criticism of Poems
In a sense, this still is heavily influential today in the classroom. You don't really care what the poet thinks necessarily at first. It's a useful way to understand the poem. And so if you ever had a professor, and even I kind of teach poetry this way, I've been influenced by the new critics.
