The beast in Loch Ness was already a local legend, whether or not people knew its origins. As 1933 went on, the papers began to pick up on the Loch Ness monster mania and reporting increased. The London Daily Mail hired a big game hunter who also happened to be an actor and a filmmaker to track and capture the monster of Loch Ness. It took Marmaduke Weatherill less than four days to find footprints of the elusive creature. He made a big show of making plaster casts of the tracks and had them sent to the Natural History Museum in London. In under a month, the museum came back with their official findings.
