Most of society's rules and traditions are based on when people were dying at 50 years old, as in people used to not live very long before. So they had to make up a lot of rules around that. When you should get married, what you should do and what you should have accomplished is literally based on last century's DNA. It just doesn't leave a lot of space to really figure out what you want and then pursue what you want.
