The First Elections in North Korea
The first mass elections in Korea were universal, but they were not the traditional, quote, American type. A slate of candidates was selected by a coalition of political parties and 35 social organizations that included about 6 million people. These were candidates known to people, figures from resistance to Japan to Korean social reform and nationalism.
