The Cure for the Extinction of Civilizations

The cure for this all too familiar consequences of civilizations being at risk is more rationality and reason, not less. Wishing it weren't so isn't going to help. Using magic won't cut it when the asteroid is heading our way. But I don't see any sign of this thing that is putting civilization at risk. Don't be upset if people challenge your magical claims. It's just people wanting to be reasonable and in many cases compassionate as well.
