Before I got to Cambridge and got to know Minsky in person, I believe that Minsky was the good guy. And basically, he was the one who understood that artificial intelligence, the cognitive science that you need to read Piaget. But most of the field fell off the true belief because it was too hard and built simplistic systems. Ultimately, the simplistic systems won out because of a short-term research interest in career prospects.
