The Special Operations Executive and Virginia Heckler
The American Vice Consul in Lyon, George Whittinghill, knew her by her real name. Despite his supposed neutrality, he was a quick convert to Virginia's cause. With his help, she was able to achieve her goal of sending coded dispatches over the border into Switzerland in a diplomatic pouch. From there they could be safely forwarded to London.
