CHAPTER

The Tsikonovskaya Story

Zvetlana Tsikonovskaya ran for president of Belarus in 2020. She won, but President Alexander Lukashenko repressed dissent with police violence. Her husband Sergey became famous by driving around the country asking ordinary Belarusians about their lives. He was arrested when he announced he would run against Lukashenko and she took his place.
