Are We a Lutheran Church?
Up until the early 1900s, at least in the US, the Lutheran church stood against usury. It was such an essential element of a Christian nation that it was almost unthinkable that a girl would work outside of the home. And then we came to World War II where we sent so many men overseas and we had so many men working in factories that were shortages. We quickly normalized, not coincidentally, girls leaving their homes.
