It's not really clear how they're getting it. Some are speculating that it might be direct transmission between them or that is just a transmission from eating carcasses and the sheer pressure of affection in the environment. And about the pathology it's very delicate because we haven't seen this kind of disease so far in South America. There's not very much genetic diversity yet however I built a phylogenetic tree last week actually with all the sequences that were available in the Americas to find out where these animals have come from. It will wreak havoc on Antarctica when it gets there.
