The film makes the slumber party experience look adventurous, fun and carefree. It's a sweet slice of Americana, not meant to be overly serious,. The guests are doing everything except sleeping. There are wistful shots of the young women disrobing whilst casually chatting. This establishes the killer's initial motive to shut down communication within the feminine register. Killing the telephone repairman symbolically invokes the silencing of female voices and removal of their access to the outside world. But why should it matter that a drill brandishing lunatic fixates on a girls slumber party killing the guests one by one? What is really going on here? Well, my perspective is that
