The Pharmacodynamics of Anti-Susular Medication
All anti-sudular medications either decrease excitation through sodium channel blockade or decreasing the excitatory postsynaptic potential. They enhance inhibition by enhancing the function of GABA. carbamazepine, phenytoin and phenobarbital are three old, very effective anti-susular medications that often have very strong enzyme induction. All of these medications will decrease the effectiveness of a lot of other anti-sUsular medications.
