Psychotherapists are mostly white, middle class people who can afford to take the time to work at less of a living wage. The dominant narrative is often coming from the colonial perspective in psychotherapy. We should develop as many theories of therapy as possible,. so that very specific world views that clients bring in can be matched with the theory that works for them. And yet, the field has not got any more effective in at least 50 years.
