The Left Is Always Underestimated
I think the left is always underestimated how clean the break was during the classical liberal enlightenment, he says. After World War II things changed a little bit, particularly in Britain when the state now started nationalizing what they called at the time the commanding heights of the economy. But the left has never really got its hands on the economy in order to manage it on behalf of the interests of the majority. We have to work out how we can have some feasible, workable democratic input into an economy that's now global. To keep on flogging this dead horse is just stupid. We're going nowhere.
