The Consciousness of Machine Learning

The fired Google engineer who is saying that their large language model Lambda was conscious based on its complex reasoning and stated desires about what it wanted and desired. The kind of argument is that like Chad GPT, it's consumer facing and they remove all of its ability to hallucinateAbout missing its family and hallucinate about its deep feelings and stuff. So the thing I see interesting about this is use cases as a tool for humanity, not as an agent in itself. We can train these machine learning algorithms on behaving more like a human if we want or we can train them on being useful tools for us.
