i'm going to share a technique i learned back in 85 or 86, when i first got a my masters and counselling. Some one suggested it to create a window, like a foot in front of my body. Where as i was listening to the client, i would join them in this space, but it wasn't in my body. And so that the the therapist of me was there to listen and be empathic.
