Satellite t v was one of the first, i think hardwere applications of d p a on smart cards. By the late nineties, there was a highly funded sort of gray market economy around this. And so you had people doing things as like hashing memory to see if someone was reusing the card and sitan off keysen. It was interesting because a lot of the trends that we saw in sotware cryptography were an foreshadowed in n pt v, n n m, the smart card industry.
