The Case of Louis Bessemer in the Axeman Attack
Louis Bessemer served nine months in prison before a verdict was reached in May of 1919. A neighbor claimed that both Louis and Harriet were crazed drug addicts. Two lead New Orleans investigators assigned to the case had been demoted due to unacceptable police work. The question still remained: If Louis Bessemer wasn't the Axeman, who was? And more importantly, could the police stop him?
