The 14-Day Rule
The 14-day rule is more kind of, as you said, it's a gentleman's agreement that we're not going to pursue research on embryos after 14 days. And really there are already people who are very clearly saying we need to eliminate the 14-days rule. The fundamental violation is at any point after fertilization. We don't really look like an adult at those earliest stages and so they're just more likely to be turned into fodder for experimentation. That's the real tragedy that we can't recognize our own humble origins here.
