A study published in Nature Medicine found reinfection with COVID-19 doubled the risk of death and tripled the risk of hospitalization compared to those infected for the first time. The highest risk for these post-acute issues in cardiovascular and other organ systems seems to be in those who are hospitalized for their infection. It is worth taking mitigation measures like wearing respiratory protection and avoiding large gatherings to avoid potentially devastating long-term impacts being infected again.
