The Importance of Being Nobodies

C.S. Lewis wrote a beautiful letter not to a child but to his friend Arthur Greaves after his first poem was published and received very little notice at his first book of poems. He said, there's actually something kind of cleansing about just licking your wounds and saying, no, why am I writing in the first place? Is it all about receiving recognition? Yeah. And just the pleasure of getting one's words on the page. So and sometimes I think he's giving children the same kind of advice.
