Wagner Group and CAR: A Comparison
Wagner groups' roles are different in different areas of the country. Banging the capital, they have secured and they want to keep that very stable. They're fighting rebels in mining areas which Wagner might want to secure for themselves or for Russian mining companies to take over. This isn't all about helping the local government. There was quite a good historical analogy I thought. On the one hand, they're representing Russian national interests there. But on the other hand, they've also got their own business interests there.
