What Is Context Fading?

If you learn something in one room, then you are going to have the idea that somehow that knowledge is connected with that room. If you change around your rooms, what happens is you start to lose so much the sense of context of that room. All these things are things that expertise allows due to large amounts of structured knowledge. The quantity of knowledge that you have means that you have something which I'm going to call context fading or context grading. It will be easier for you to do, say, your homework in that room than it will be to do it in another room.
