Dr. David Perry: I tend to be scary in my consults with my patients, and I do absolutely quote them numbers. For example, sort of the most dangerous procedure we do as plastic surgeons is an abdominal plasticity. He says there is a one in 18,000 risk of death from DVTPE and cardiac arrest. And he says it's really relevant that the patient understands less at the outcome and more at what they're going to go through.
