The Influence of Late Ancient Platonism on Plato's Commentaries

Ficino had already worked at translating Proclus's elements of theology and a very large work by Yamblicus, Pythagorean philosophy. So from the beginning, even when he approaches Plato, his approach is one that is highly informed by late ancient platonism. For many modern interpreters, meaning contemporary interpreters, they see the Divided Line as fundamentally broken. Fichino writes his commentary on the divided line in a more elegant or eloquent manner because he's commenting on this difference between artificial decte-Pitacoga texts.
