Alternative History

Former government official and political commentator pat buchanan has argued that it would have been better if we'd stayed out of world war two entirely. What do you make of that argument? It has a surface plausibility, but we need to be careful with any kind of alternative history of argument. Ultimately, we have to leave what happens in divergent time lines and how to how to evaluate them, in god's hands. As they say in the military, it's above our pay grade.
