The final few minutes of the symphony recap everything that has come before. Shostakovich was a master at writing these subtly sarcastic happy themes. Stalin's music from the second movement breaks in, terrifying and violent. The D-S-C-H theme intruding at every moment with no sign of the Stalin theme anymore. Finally, at the end, the music becomes completely hysterical.
