The Importance of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure
The government wants Australia to be the world's most cyber secure nation, and a top 10 digital economy by 2030. The Security of Critical Infrastructure Act that was passed last year fits into that vision. It is designed to set a baseline in the critical infrastructure economy about risk management,. including cyber and supply chain risk. And it really has manifested in a mandatory cyber incident reporting requirement. If everything goes wrong, every other regulatory system of the Commonwealth or states and territories doesn't work. We've got an escalating ability to respond to a cyber incident, the like of which hasn't occurred in Australia.
